At Southern Lakes Credit Union, we believe in empowering our members and communities through education.

Each year, we award a $1,000 scholarship to help support students on their educational journey.

Important Dates

  • Applications Open: March 1
  • Deadline to Apply: April 30
  • Recipient Announced: June

Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college or university after successful completion of the student’s first semester (transcript and proof of continuing enrollment required).

Who Can Apply

To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Be the primary owner of an active SLCU savings or checking account for at least six months
  • Be:
    • A high school senior planning to attend an accredited 2- or 4-year college, /university, or technical school in Wisconsin or Illinois, or
    • A current student enrolled at least half-time in an accredited Wisconsin or Illinois college, university, or accredited technical school
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Preference will be given to students pursuing business, education, or related fields

What You’ll Need to Apply

Please submit the following by April 30:

  • Completed application

  • Current transcript (high school or college)

  • One letter of recommendation from a teacher, professor, advisor, or work/volunteer supervisor

  • A 1–2 page essay answering:
    How can SLCU make a difference in improving the quality of life in our communities by meeting unmet needs?
